On February 21st, together with the Mission Wings Foundation, /Complex for Social Services for Children and Families, Stara Zagora /, EURO-training Association and Ethnoworld Bulgaria Foundation, https://www.facebook.com/%D0%95%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%B2%D1%8F%D1%82-%D0%91%D1%8A%D0%BB%D0%B3%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F-1069610696433230/“>, we celebrated the International Day of Mother Language for the first time. This year marks 20 years since 21.02 was declared as a day in the mother language.
With the friendly hospitality of the International Youth Center in Stara Zagora, we managed to make an inspiring initiative. In the program there were facts, games, reading texts – poetry and prose, in different languages, songs, and of course – food prepared by some of the participants. We gathered children, youths and adults from 10 nationalities and one ethnic group: Americans, Bulgarians, Greeks, Italians, Poles, Serbs, Turks, а Hungarian, Czechs, Swiss and Roma children, with whom we from Don Bosko Bulgarian foundation work. The atmosphere was casual, people opened up and a nice celebration happened. It is always good when a person is not at home – in his home country, to have the opportunity and space to express himself in his native language, to tell about his homeland, to come closer to it, though only by the word.
The final part of the feast was related to the food. The Polish table was the most varied, but the dishes of Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary and the Czech Republic also did not go unnoticed by the guests. While they were eating, they also had the opportunity to meet, get acquainted, talk and dare.
We parted amused, pleased with the evening and with light plans for next February 21st.
The event took place as part of the ENSI Project / Eropean Network for Social Inclusion (EU Erasmus + Program, https://www.facebook.com/ensiproject.net/“>) and was a good practice that we, the organizers, borrowed from the Polish Fundacja Family Center.
